IMPACT News Digest - Tuesday 20th September 2016
Unseasonal greetings Grinches.

This year's Gerry Dolan 'Christmas is Cancelled Award' goes to my colleague Lughan Deane, whose excellent IMPACT blog is still sending shock waves through the element of the commentariat that sees the Late Late Toy Show as the true essence of Christmas.

What have you done, Lughan? This makes stopping the buses on All Ireland Replay Day look as benign as the Guinness Staff Association.

Another way to get lots of media coverage is to produce reports that say we're paying too much tax, a story widely covered this morning, including by RTE who, strangely, didn't link it to its other lead about rough sleeping hitting an all-time high.

Meanwhile, there's bad news for staff who do the caring at Oberstown, as Minister Catherine Zappone gives her full backing to management at the campus.

Fianna Fail kicks off its think-in this morning, with leader Michael Martin again hinting that they're happy in opposition for the time being. Elsewhere, the Party's maths comes under scrutiny, while farmers, migrants and house prices all feature on today's front pages.

Our Zen comes from my boyhood hero Marc Bolan. It would have been his birthday next week if we weren't commemorating his early demise this.

Only 95 shopping days 'til Christmas. Send your Santa letters to the Communications Unit.

Glad tidings,

Bernard Harbor
