Dublin Bus workers: Resolving pay dispute is our primary concern - not the All Ireland replay

Dublin Bus drivers are still planning to strike on the day of the All-Ireland football final replay between Mayo and Dublin on October 1.

NBRU has said that the calls to suspend the 24 hour stoppage planned for the day of the replay are “premature”.

General Secretary Dermot O’Leary said: “To consider a suspension of their 24Hr Stoppage just to facilitate a one off occasion is frankly insulting to both staff and their regular commuters, those who are calling for this suspension would be far better served if they were to focus their energies on getting this dispute resolved for the benefit of all those who use Dublin Bus services.”

Dublin Bus has received notification from SIPTU of plans for further industrial action on September 27 and 28 - as well as October 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 18, 19, 24, 26, 29.

Employees are seeking a 15pc flat pay increase over the next three years.

To date, the company claim that the dispute has cost them over €4m.

"Our immediate focus is to find a resolution of this dispute for the benefit of commuters and the staff at Dublin Bus,” Mr O’Leary said.
