The package involves an extension of, and increase to, excise duty cuts on petrol and diesel, a delay to a planned rise in the carbon tax and multimillion euro schemes to support hauliers and agribusinesses. 

 

German union VC has called on pilots at at Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo and Lufthansa CityLine to take part in a two-day strike from today in a dispute over pensions.

 

In Tipperary, a fire station is in danger of closing by the end of this year if more members are not secured.
