Good morning everyone.

 

Here's a look at today's front pages. There may be a thawing of relations on the Korean peninsular, but a major stand-off between me and this machine has led to a delay in the publication of this morning's (picture-less) news digest. My apologies.

 

Local authorities may be set to lose more powers as the Government moves on Traveller housing. Meanwhile, Dublin City Council is to stop prioritising homeless families in its housing allocations, and health unions are talking to the HSE about a severe weather protocol.

 

Last night, the Road Safety Authority told RTÉ's Primetime that ten-out-of-12 learner drivers involved in fatal accidents were unaccompanied by a qualified motorist. Fórsa opined on this issue last month.

 

A number of outlets cover an MIT study, which finds that fake news is 70% more likely to be re-tweeted than the real thing.

 

In proper news, the OECD warns that things could go economically wrong for Ireland. It's not 100% convinced by our health services either.

 

The Government has outlined 21 principles to guide policy on abortion if the people decide to ditch the eight amendment. Legislation on the referendum will be introduced in the Dáil today.

 

Oh, and Big Tobacco is still killing people at an alarming, albeit profitable, rate.
