Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has said the latest Covid-19 case numbers are “very concerning” but the government is not currently contemplating re-introducing restrictions, as public health officials confirmed 3,726 new cases here yesterday. 

 

The government’s Climate Action Plan is likely to be finalised today before the publication of the much-awaited document tomorrow. As well as outlining different actions being planned to help Ireland achieve its overall target to reduce emissions, the plan will also outline specific targets for individual sectors to achieve.

Elsewhere, SIPTU has sought a meeting with government ministers and renewed its call for a dedicated transport police service to adequately counter the rise of anti-social behaviour on public transport systems.

The closure of college campuses and the switch to remote teaching amid the Covid-19 pandemic had a far-reaching and negative impact on the experience of tens of thousands of college students, according to a major new survey.

And Revenue’s Local Property Tax helpline will now run from 8am-8pm today and Thursday, in order to facilitate calls in the run-up to the deadline this Sunday.
