Staff survey: Mental health in the workplace

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being.
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being.

Dear colleagues,

Wednesday marked World Mental Health day, which is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices.

Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Over the course of your life, you may experience mental health problems, during which time your thinking, mood and behaviour may be affected. Many factors contribute to mental health problems.

These include:

  • Biological factors, such as genes or brain chemistry
  • Life experiences, such as trauma or abuse
  • Family history of mental health problems

Mental health problems are common but it is important to know that help is available.

We here in Fórsa, with the support of senior management are conducting a staff survey to evaluate and assess the attitudes towards mental health in our workplace. The aim of this review is to understand the current approach to mental health and identify any areas needing improvement.

The survey can be accessed here.

The survey is anonymous and any personal information you may wish to include will be treated with the strictest confidence.

It will remain open until Friday 11th November and we encourage all staff members to take part.

Many thanks in advance, for your participation.

Kind regards,

Dessie Robinson, Julie Healy & Roisin McKane
