Several hundred people have attended a vigil in memory of Ashling Murphy in Galway tonight.
The crowd, comprising students and members of the public, gathered at the Browne Archway at the top of the public plaza.
Many brought flowers and candles to commemorate the 23-year-old teacher, who was murdered in Tullamore yesterday.
One of the organisers, Eve McDowell, said people wanted to remember the short life of Ms Murphy.
She said women were tired of having to deal with various forms of harassment and called for a society-wide discussion to ensure boys and men did not feel it was okay to engage in any form of abuse.
