The right to work from home is broadly covered this morning. The Times reports that Government has rejected calls to introduce a right to work from home, promising instead to legislate for a right for employees to request home-working. Meanwhile ICTU’s Patricia King said it was important employers not rush workers back to the workplace, given the fact legislation had yet to be enacted. 

 

Following on from this The Indo reports that Government is to identify locations for remote working hubs around the country.

 

The Tánaiste has published a new law which will give customers clear information on where their tips and service charges go. The law will also prohibit the use of tips to 'make up' contractual rates of pay.

 

The Times reports that more than 1,000 Aer Lingus ground crew face pay freezes for the next two years following a recent Labour Court ruling.

 

Fórsa members at the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority are due to participate in a 48-hour work stoppage from midnight tonight until midnight Thursday. Fórsa’s Ian McDonnell spoke to Highland Radio about the dispute. Listen back to that here.

 

Learner drivers are facing an average wait of 10 weeks for a driving test, according to Road Safety Authority figures seen by RTÉ's Morning Ireland.

 

The Examiner reports on a new Amnesty study which finds that the law criminalising the purchase of sex and brothel-keeping is facilitating the targeting and abuse of sex workers. Read more on that here.

Cabinet is set to sign-off on a €210 million legislative plan at their weekly meeting this morning, which aims to assist households struggling with the rising cost of electricity bills.

 

And finally, SIPTU has called for a halt to the selling-off of community based employment services following news reports that the US headquartered corporate contract company, Maximus, has established an operation in Ireland with the expressed interest in taking over Local Employment Services.
