Join the Workplace Walkouts for Palestine on November 28th

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) has organised a Day of Action in solidarity with Palestine on Friday, 28th November.

Fórsa members will be participating in a coordinated workplace action demanding an end to government and corporate complicity in Israel’s ongoing atrocities, and to show trade union solidarity with the people and workers of Palestine. We’re asking you and your colleagues to take part in simple but powerful workplace actions at lunchtime.

Across the country, workers can use their lunch breaks and rest periods to make their collective voice heard by participating in this initiative.

You can join your colleagues and fellow union members in workplace walkouts for Palestine. These will be voluntary, off-site actions during lunch or break time.

As trade unionists, we know what solidarity means. It’s not just a slogan but a commitment to act in the face of injustice. Fórsa members have passed motions time and again calling on the union to act on Palestine. Now is the time to follow through.

Fórsa members have consistently supported action on Palestine, with successive conference motions calling on the union to take a leading role. We are calling on the Government to implement the Occupied Territories Bill (OTB), including its provisions on services, and to reject any attempts to roll back on Oireachtas Committee recommendations.

Ireland can and should lead the way in ending trade with illegal Israeli settlements. But it won’t happen without pressure from workers.

Because when workers stand together, our voices carry far beyond our workplaces.

If you or your branch plan to take part, or if you’d like to receive campaign updates, contact campaigns@forsa.ie to sign up to the Fórsa Palestine Solidarity mailing list.

Let’s show that Irish workers stand for justice, peace, and equality. Together, we can stand against occupation and apartheid.

In advance of the day of action Fórsa will host a seminar on actions of economic solidarity with Palestine on Saturday 22nd November. This seminar will be an opportunity for members and activists to develop practical skills and knowledge and focus on meaningful action. The event builds on motions adopted at our 2024 biennial conference relating to economic activity with Israel and in the Occupied Territories. We will explore how we, as trade unionists, can use our collective power and influence to promote justice and equality.

This event is open to all Fórsa activists whether you are already involved or just starting out.
