Yesterday, Fórsa along with SIPTU and INMO made an appearance in the gallery at Dáil Eireann to support a motion calling for thousands of healthcare workers to get pay rises under the national pay agreement. The Section 39 organisations came from all across the country to be there in support of the Labour motion.

 

12-year-old Hamish O'Flaherty made a touching tribute to his late Father James O'Flaherty who sadly passed away in the Creeslough tragedy just days ago. The brave young man requested to say a few words to those gathered at the St Mary's Church. He urged everyone to "be grateful for your family and cherish them because they won't be there forever."

 

Technology deployed during the pandemic to test for Covid-19 in the country's waste water is now being used to detect and analyse illegal drug use in Dublin at the request of the HSE.

 

According to the 2022 Global Hunger Index there are 44 countries suffering with serious or alarming levels of hunger. The study cites the war in Ukraine as one of the many reasons why there is famine in certain countries.

 

Thousands of third level students across the country will walk out of lectures and tutorials this morning in protest to the lack of accomodation and cost-of-living crisis. The protest is being organised by the USI, which says landlords are exploiting the student accomodation crisis by charging sky-high rents.
