The Thai cave rescue dominates the headlines this morning with most papers carrying the story.The group ventured into the vast cave complex in northern Thailand after football practice on 23 June, and became stuck on a ledge following heavy rainfall. Thankfully all 12 boys and their soccer coach were rescued safely yesterday following their 17 day ordeal.  Although a little underweight, all parties were generally in good health and showed no signs of stress

 

The Ryanair dispute continues to make headlines with RTÉ covering the upcoming industrial action.  The pilots' branch, IALPA  accepted Ryanair's invitation to meet on neutral grounds this morning, however the union has warned that the possibility of strike action remains very likely. Our own Bernard Harbor spoke to Juliette Gash  about the dispute.

 

The capital is under heavy security this morning as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue their whistle-stop Irish tour, making a number of stops along the way. The royal couple will pay a visit to Áras an Uachtaráin, Croke Park and Trinity College before flying home this evening.

 

garda investigation is under way after an official loaded garda firearm went missing for a time in Dublin yesterday evening. It was subsequently handed into a garda station a short time later. It is believed that due to a mechanical fault , the boot of the car opened as it travelled over a speed bump. The movement caused the bag containing the gun to bounce and fall out of the car.  Gardaí do not believe the weapon had been fired and all the ammunition has been accounted for, however Garda Headquarters has confirmed the incident is being investigated.

 

Dublin Bus brings us our Zen this morning. Following on from Dublin Pride they released this video featuring the "Dublin Bus Proud Dads". It will warm the cockles of your heart and restore all faith in humanity.
