The Times looks at the State pension age, and says it is affordable without increasing the pension age.

 

Civilians will start leaving the besieged Ukrainian city of Sumy today under an agreement with Russia on the establishment of a “humanitarian corridor”. Read more on that here. Meanwhile, the State is likely to be expected to take in over 100,000 Ukrainian refugees.

 

The State will pay €100,000 to the families of healthcare workers who died from Covid-19 during the pandemic under plans going to Cabinet today.

 

An Aer Lingus pilot whose defamation award by a jury was cut on appeal has had the award upped by the Supreme Court.

 

Applications have opened to recruit 160 people on to the Civil Service student placement scheme. Read more on that here.

 

Workers in the contract cleaning industry are to receive a pay rise next month under a new law.
