Ceasefire
by Bernard Harbor

The cyber attack on our health service continues to dominate the news, as hopes focus on a decryption tool that's currently being assessed. HSE boss Paul Reid says all his organisation's data, including payroll, could be compromised. But staff are being paid this week, and Fórsa meets management for another update early next.

Meanwhile, the Irish Times goes quite big on the unsurprising news that HSE IT staff were "diverted" into supporting Covid-19 testing and the vaccination roll-out in the months ahead of the cyber attack. I can imagine the press reaction if they hadn't been.

That paper also has internal documents saying the Government wants the private sector to provide most of the 330,000 homes it expects to be built over the next decade. And the AHCPS conference kicks off with an echo of Fórsa's call for face masks to be made mandatory in Intreo offices.

Elsewhere, most outlets report on the adoption of an EU 'digital health pass,' which could pave the way for summer travel, the ESRI's call for "sizeable" tax increases to fund public services is widely reported, and the Examiner has this on planned RSA measures to tackle driving test waiting lists

The French civil servant and artist Henri Rousseau was born this day in 1844. Wanna know more? Today's Zen is one of those kids' things that's good for adults too.

Bring the umbrella this weekend.
