Good morning folks, 

 

The Coronavirus dominates headlines again this morning following the news that Italy has extended its emergency measures, which include travel restrictions and a ban on public gatherings, to the entire country.  Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney has upgraded travel advice for Irish citizens recommending against travel to the whole of Italy. Back home, the Cabinet Sub-Committee dealing with the Coronavirus has decided to cancel the St Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin, following the announcement by Cork City Council to cancel their parade. Elsewhere, the FAI have announced that players are prohibited from shaking hands with opponents and officials "until further notice" in a bid to contain the spread.

 

Meanwhile, European shares have slumped across the board and a 30% plunge in oil prices amplified fears of a global recession.
