The Cabinet will consider a proposal today that Ireland makes a financial contribution of €1.5m, rather than admitting more people seeking international protection, in order to comply with the commitments of a European solidarity agreement.

And finally, consumers are set to benefit from some decreases in the cost of groceries from this morning, following an announcement by Tesco Ireland it will cut prices on more than 700 products. It follows a sustained period of grocery price inflation which has seen prices across the board rise by more than 16%.
