Kevin Callinan spoke on Morning Ireland this morning saying that inflation is the enemy of workers. "Workers are not the cause of inflation. They are the victims. Pay increases are a big part in protecting workers’ living standards." You can listen back here.

Thera has been national coverage of the pay cut discussions over the weekend. The Irish TImes' story "Public sector pay talks stall as unions reject 5% increase over two years" was the front page lead in Saturday's paper.

The Irish Times also wrote an interesting article on female membership of trade unions. A survey conducted in UCD found that Trade union membership is “increasingly becoming a female phenomenon” in Ireland.

Thousands took to the streets in Ireland after inflation surged to its highest level since the 1980s, prompting cost of living protests in cities across the country. The #CostofLivingDemo took place on Saturday and demanded that the government take real action in the coming weeks.

While in France Emmanuel Macron is faced with trying to salvage a ruling majority and with it his economic reform agenda after voters punished his centrist 'Ensemble' alliance in France's parliamentary election.
