Pictures of Lily
by Bernard Harbor

Lily Agg's photo appears across today's front and sports pages after she scored the goal that put Ireland through to the world cup play-offs yesterday evening.

Earlier, SNA Linda O'Sullivan - who's had a busy media week - featured at the start of this Morning Ireland piece about back-to-school costs. And there's strong local media coverage of Fórsa's announcement of forthcoming industrial action in voluntary bodies in Galway and elsewhere, plus this from RTÉ.

Brace yourself for a tsunami of coverage of today's leaving cert results replete with plenty of advice for students and parents. And former HSE boss Paul Reid is also hard to avoid this morning. He's interviewed in the Times, Indo and Examiner.

Elsewhere, the Indo speculates that soaring home heating bills could see remote workers scurrying back to the office.

In international news, the UN's nuclear chief doesn't like what he found at the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia power plant, US president Joe Biden is taking on the extreme right (aka the modern Republican Party), and Pakistanis are facing more misery as water surges down the Indus river (you can help HERE).

Time for some Zen. The French post-impressionist painter Henri Rousseau died this day in 1910. Ridiculed by contemporaries in his day, he's now lauded for paintings like Tiger in a Tropical Storm which, sadly, sets the weather tone for the weekend. Sit back and enjoy an animation of this and similar masterpieces.

Dust down your umbrella and have a great weekend.
