Dear members,

Over 6000 members have signed our petition calling on the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to intervene in the HSE decision to exclude Health and Social Care Professionals from the Senior Management Team in the new HSE Health Regions. 

Today I’m writing to you directly as Chair of the Fórsa Psychology National Professional Committee (NPC).

Your support is essential to make this petition a success. Please sign the petition and share it widely with your colleagues, friends and family. The petition is open to all to sign, so that as many people as possible can show their support for the valuable work that you do as a Health and Social Care Professional within our Health Service. 

Why is this so urgent?

The new Health Region structure will come into force on the 1st October 2024. If this exclusion is allowed to happen, it will have a real and significant negative impact on the development of frontline Health and Social Care Profession services within each region for years to come.  

Did you know? 

Your union has repeatedly asked the HSE what the rationale is for the exclusion of Health and Social Care Professionals from the Senior Management Team in each Health Region. The HSE have not given any substantive or satisfactory response to this question. 

Instead, we have been told the decision is to have a Regional Clinical Director for medical colleagues and a Regional Director for Nursing and Midwifery for nursing colleagues. HSCPs, as the second largest clinical group, have simply been ignored.
