IBEC have objected to plans to introduce paid domestic violence leave on the basis that victims can already take compassionate or sick leave.They also argue that employers should be allowed to ask for proof to stop any 'potential abuse' of paid leave to victims of domestic abuse. Women's Aid have said that IBEC's submission appears mean-spirited, distrustful and defensice. 

 

ICTU have endorsed collective bargaining recommendations which will mean an employer will be obliged to engage with unions if they represent 10% or more of a group, grade or category within the company. Other recommendations include the strengthening of the Joint Labour Committee and the appointment of technical assessors by the Labour Court. You can read more here.
