Staff at Roscommon County Council are staging their second one-day strike today in support of family-friendly working practices, Shannonside radio continues to cover the story.

 

Fórsa has warned that legislation compelling employers to reveal details their gender pay gaps may not be passed by the current Oireachtas now that the Government has insisted on publishing its own Bill, rather than amending an opposition Bill that has already passed its second stage.

 

Elsewhere, firefighters in Cork City are to ballot for industrial action over pay restoration measures under the Lansdowne Road agreement. 

 

Minister for Children Katherine Zappone announced she was partially restoring State funding to Scouting Ireland for three months yesterday. The Irish Times reports the organisation was aware of serious flaws in how it handled child protection cases as early as six years ago. In a spearate piece, Jack Power writes that safeguarding failings at Scouting Ireland are the symptoms of a “deeply rooted dysfunction” within the organisation’s culture, according to a new report.
