The Times reports on an international study which shows Ireland spends less on education as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) than almost all developed countries. Meanwhile, managers of the country's primary schools have appealed for additional funding so that they can meet significant increases in energy, insurance, cleaning and waste disposal costs this winter.
