This morning’s reports state a huge Russian military convoy is massing on the outskirts of Ukraine’s capital today as fears grow the invading forces are set to launch devastating assaults aimed at taking control of Kyiv and other major cities.

 

Meanwhile, alarms have been raised of a cyberwar which has led to online disruption in both Ukraine and Russia and has sparked fears of wider attacks around the world.

 

Back home, Fórsa announced yesterday it will be supporting the #NoWomanLeftBehind Dublin rally, which will mark International Women’s Day. 

 

A new climate change report has issued 'dire warning about the consequences of inaction', stating global heating is virtually certain to pass 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, probably within a decade.

 

And an Ictu and Fórsa submission to the Oireachtas committee scrutinising the draft law on remote working is seeking major amendments on the right to appeal in the new bill. More on that here.

Some good news to wrap it up, a US patient with leukemia has become the first woman and the third person to date to be cured of HIV after receiving a stem cell transplant from a donor who was naturally resistant to the virus that causes AIDS, researchers have reported, while expressing optimism for this treatment to become a pathway to a cure.

On some occasions, sports events have provided a fantastic platform to show solidarity with those impacted by the conflict. And when Ireland faced Italy in the Six Nations in Dublin earlier this week, those in attendance certainly did that.
