School caretakers will join school secretaries in a day of strike action on September 15th. Read more from The Times here.

 

The Indo reports that around 12,000 children are already at home from school restricting their movements after being identified as close contacts of a confirmed case of Covid-19 .

 

Also in education, The Examiner reports that a €50m fund to target learning lost due to school closures during the pandemic is expected to be brought to Cabinet this week.

 

The first cuts to the Pandemic Unemployment Payment will take effect from today with students also receiving their final payments under the scheme. Read more on that here.

 

The Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission has said that negative attitudes among Gardaí to ethnic minorities must be tackled.

 

The Examiner reports on new research which says that people must be owners of their own health data. 

 

RTÉ reports that new standards for domestic solid fuels will be introduced across the State within a year. The most polluting solid fuels will no longer be available on the Irish market.
