Another giveaway budget is in prospect later this year after the Government presented updated economic forecasts on Tuesday which showed huge surpluses expected in the public finances in the coming years.

Petrol and Diesel peices are the lowest they've been since October 2021 according to the Irish Independent but AA Ireland has warned the lower prices are not here to stay, because the signalled restoration of the full rates of excise duty is due to start from June. 

The wearing of face masks in hospitals and other healthcare settings is no longer a mandatory requirement from today. The decision to remove the requirement was announced in public health guidance from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre earlier this month.

Companies backed by Enterprise Ireland recorded exports of €32.1 billion last year. The exports increased 19% compared to 2021, in what was the highest ever level of growth for Enterprise Ireland-backed companies in export value.
