Where do the parties stand on our priorities?

Dear members,

On Friday, 29th November Irish citizens will have the opportunity to vote in the next general election.

To make sure our members’ voices were part of the public debate during this election campaign we produced a manifesto, held an election event attended by political representatives from across the political spectrum, organised an email campaign to enable members to contact political parties, and distributed a poster highlighting key questions to ask canvassers.

Now, we have reviewed political parties’ manifestos and engaged directly with the seven biggest parties in the outgoing Dáil, on their commitments to supporting Fórsa’s priorities.

You can view the resulting analysis here. This analysis is meant to be indicative only and does not serve as the final word on policies.

Fórsa does not support or endorse any political party. However, as the second largest trade union in Ireland, and the biggest in the public sector, we advocate for our members every day. Our manifesto outlines what a society that works for workers would look like.

We used the responses of the Amárach survey, conducted for Fórsa this summer, to inform the policy proposals in our manifesto, along with motions passed by members at union conferences.

We encourage all members to engage with the general election, cast your vote, and have your say in shaping the make-up of the next Dáil Éireann.

Yours sincerely,
Kevin Callinan
General Secretary
