A motion at Dublin City Council to fly the Palestinian flag didn’t meet the threshold for approval last night, though a majority of Councillors present voted in favour. More on that here

 

The death toll in Gaza is now estimated at over 10,000. UN SG Antonio Guterres said on Monday that Gaza has become a graveyard for children.


Guterres said "The nightmare in Gaza is more than a humanitarian crisis, it is a crisis of humanity."


He warned that 'no one is safe' in Gaza as he reiterated his urgent call for a humanitarian ceasefire. He said Gaza was 'becoming a graveyard for children' with hundreds of boys and girls reportedly killed or injured every day. Israeli ground operations and bombardments are hitting civilians, hospitals, refugee camps, mosques, churches and UN facilities including shelter.

 

 

In an interview to ABC News yesterday Netanyahu said that the war would continue until Israel had restored overall control of Gaza.

 

“Israel will, for an indefinite period, … have the overall security responsibility,” he said. “When we don’t have that security responsibility, what we have is the eruption of Hamas terror on a scale that we couldn’t imagine.” He stressed that “there will be no ceasefire – general ceasefire – in Gaza, without the release of our hostages.
