The Government will not consider any changes to the structure or governance of the new National Maternity Hospital in the coming weeks, despite Opposition concerns about the ownership of the site and potential religious influence according to the Irish Times. Instead the Government will take the next couple of weeks to explain the nature of the agreement to opposing TD's.

 

Yesterday, the Government announced  proposals on the funding of higher and further education which may have the potential to address problems faced by all who work and study in the sector.

 

Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has said at least 3,000 extra soldiers are needed to address the security threats facing Ireland in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
