Talks will resume at the WRC today in an attempt to prevent another three days of strikes by health-workers next week. Siptu is also threatening to escalate the industrial action even further with a five-day stoppage between Monday and Friday the following week. Over 10,000 staff participated in a 24 hour work stoppage yesterday in a dispute with the HSE over a job-evaluation scheme and pay.

Students at UCC held a protest outside the University's president's office over a 120% increase in capitation fees which the Student's Union said was introduced without consultation. Also in Cork, 200 jobs will be lost after An Post announced it is to close its mail centre at Little Island.

The new gender pay gap reporting legislation has been criticised by HR representatives, CIPD over lack of clarity. The bill is to be debated at a meeting of the justice committee today, as part of its journey into law.
