Tentative agreement

RMT members are to vote on a pay deal that could halt the union's current wave of industrial action against train companies. Operators have put forward an offer that proposes backdated pay rises for staff and job security guarantees. RMT boss Mick Lynch said he supported the deal but did not rule out future strikes.

 

SIPTU has called on Pfizer’s management to meet with the union following the announcement this week that they plan to roll out voluntary redundancies at their Newbridge facility. The move is part of a wider restructuring process following a reduction in demand for the firm’s Covid-19 vaccines and treatments.

 

The number of GP training places is to rise to 350 next year, up by 35% on this year. Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly said that for every two GPs that currently retire, three to six new GPs are entering practice.

 

Electric Ireland has said an employee of a company working on its behalf may have inappropriately accessed customer accounts leading to the potential misuse of personal and financial information. Electric Ireland said its investigations have established that around 8,000 customer accounts may have been compromised.

 

And It’s set to be a breezy and somewhat rainy day today with weather warnings in place for three counties.
