The Irish Times reports that military representative body Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association (PDFORRA) has formally sought to affiliate with ICTU. The paper reports that the absence of this affiliation has led to Defence Force personnel not doing as well as others across the public service.

The State Examinations Commission has announced that this year's Junior Certificate results will be released on October 4th, more than two weeks later than usual. The Commission says that this delay is due to changes in how the Leaving Certificate examinations were marked this year.
