The Indo reports that ICTU has accused the Government of "going too far, too fast" by hiking the age that workers will qualify for the State pension to 68. It says that ICTU's executive council report has given a damning indictment of the policy and calls on the coalition to reverse its decision, expressing particular concern about those who are unfit or financially compelled to continue working beyond 65.

 

Ministers are set to discuss a pay and allowances deal for the Defence Forces in a cabinet meeting later today. It's due to be briefed on the recommendations in the Public Sector Pay Commission’s report into the Defence Forces which includes increases in military allowances, and will consider allowing the Defence Forces’ representative bodies, PDForra and Raco, to affiliate with ICTU.

 

The latest issue of the Fórsa magazine is available on the website now, with hard copies due in the office soon, and a new transfers page for HEO and AO grades in the Civil Service Division has also gone live on the website.

 

RTÉ reports that there are 19 new locations designated as Rent Pressure Zones from today, following a change in the criteria for the zones. The newly designated areas are located across 11 counties and include all of Meath and Louth, as well as Limerick's metropolitan area.

 

Finally, today's zen comes from Foals, ahead of their gig in Trinity tonight. The photo above features singer Yannis Philippakis during the bands not-so-secret set at Glastonbury over the weekend. The band preemptively announced the show on twitter, and the stage subsequently had to be closed mid-set for capacity reasons.
