In the Irish Times Naomi O'Leary writes about how the invasion has changed Europe: "hardening its outlook on defence and overturning an energy system built up over decades."

Here's a listen to what it says in today's papers, which has a strong focus on Bucha in Ukraine and the Omagh shooting.

In unwelcome news for Fórsa and other campaigners for the remunicipalisation of waste services in Dublin, consultants commissioned by Dublin City councillors have warned against the move.  Elsewhere, HSE data shows that almost 1,300 patients died over the winter as a result of delays in hospital admission from emergency departments.

Elsewhere this week Fórsa received multiple mentions in the Dáil. Specifically, our Garda Civilian members, who've been out lobbying their TDs on the policing Bill, ably guided by the Strategic Organising team and officials. The campaign continues.

In case you missed it, Mark Hilliard quotes Fórsa this week in his follow up and last Saturday's Ireland for All rally, while the Longford Leader picked up the news from our "love local government" campaign.

Meanwhile, residents living near the airport say revised flight paths from Dublin Airport’s new north runway, that came into effect yesterday, have made little to no difference for many living with unwanted fly-over noise. While the drones may not make as much noise as the planes, they are a serious safety risk, as IALPA's Evan Cullen explained to Bryan Dobson this week.

Zen

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Lisa O'Neill's show as she launched her new album, All of This Is Chance, in Whelan's. The show exceeded all expectations and she is an artist that takes you somewhere else as she completely inhabits her delicate, defiant and beautiful songs about love, nature and death.

She played a few older tunes at the end of her set, including this one, inspired by the communities and people of Sheriff St and the impact of mechanisation on dock workers in the 50s and 60s. Rock the Machine is a statement of love and defiance, and resonates with the effort of the people of Ukraine one year into their fight.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Niall
