A motion on pay rises for Community and Voluntary sector is set to be brought before the Dail today. The motion was put forward by the Labour party.

The Medical independent reports that the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) has raised concerns about the level of transparency and consultation by Safeguarding Ireland in its decision-making processes. The piece also outlines Fórsa’s call for the new safeguarding roles to be open to nursing and all other equally qualified Health and Social Care Professionals.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) is expected to tell the Oireachtas Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment today that while much is made of the fact that Ireland has one of the highest minimum wage rates in the EU, this is misleading. ICTU's Dr Laura Bambrick is due to tell TDs and senators that Ireland was already the second most expensive country in the EU even before the current inflation surge.

Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund has today cut its global growth forecast for 2023 amid colliding pressures high energy and food prices, inflation and sharply higher interest rates. The IMF also warned that conditions could worsen significantly next year.

 

And An Post has launched digital stamp for domestic postage in a move will allow consumers to buy stamp through An Post app.

Finally, Ireland made history last night as our national women’s team defeated Scotland 1-0 to book our place in the World Cup for the very first time. The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
