Fórsa is to donate €100,000 to the UNICEF Gaza Crisis Emergency Appeal following a decision by the union's national executive yesterday.

 

Meanwhile, European Union leaders will call for the establishment of "humanitarian corridors and pauses" to get urgently-needed aid into Gaza, according to the final draft of a text to be approved at a summit in Brussels today. Israel launched tanks and infantry into Gaza in an overnight raid last night, and Irish citizens are urged to leave Lebanon immediately amid growing concerns that the war in the Middle East will deteriorate "rapidly".
