ICTU is calling for a Brexit Adjustment Assistance Fund to support people most at risk from the impact of the UK leaving the EU and to protect trade union members' jobs, wages and terms and conditions.

 

The Irish Times reports the Health Service Executive (HSE) is not expected to include proposals to ban leave for nurses and doctors over the festive season as part of a new plan for tackling the anticipated surge in hospital patient numbers in the new year.

 

RTÉ reports on concerns raised about the standard of recruitment of doctors in the health service and defective procedures for recruiting and interviewing doctors.

 

A number of weather warnings have taken effect as heavy rain and strong winds are expected across much of the country, and will remain in place until this evening. A status yellow wind warning is in place for Leinster, Connacht, Munster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

 

The Central Bank says Irish households are more than 75% wealthier than they were at the low point of recession and wealthier than during the peak of the boom. The figures are driven by rising property values, and the calculation method for the figures hides the distribution of household assets and liabilities across income groups and age categories.
