The High Court has confirmed the appointment of joint official liquidators to Stobart Air, which ceased trading last month due to the impact of the pandemic on the aviation industry. That’s covered  by both The Times and The Indo.

 

Dublin City councillors have unanimously backed a motion calling for a four-day working week pilot programme for council workers, which was tabled by our own Kevin Donoghue. Elsewhere pressure is mounting for a four day week in the UK following the success of a pilot programme in Iceland.

 

The Irish Plant Contractors Association has said that the PUP is acting as a huge disincentive for some construction workers in returning to work, which surely raises questions about the pay and conditions of some construction workers.

 

New figures from the Health and Safety Authority show that the number of people who died in work-related incidents last year rose 13% to 53, despite many workplaces being closed for long spells due to Covid-19 restrictions. Read more on that here.

 

Israel's new government faced its first big defeat in parliament yesterday, failing to renew a controversial law that prevents Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza who marry Israeli citizens from gaining citizenship themselves.

A group of 13 Romanian workers completed a four-day rolling protest on Monday between Bucharest and Brussels over the low wages and working conditions that force their fellow citizens to make similar journeys in order to find decent work. Read more on that here.

 

Hospitality representatives have been told that indoor dining could reopen for 1.8 million fully vaccinated people with a self-regulated vaccine pass system. A document or email proving vaccination against Covid-19 could be used to secure entry to indoor hospitality, ahead of the EU digital Covid cert.

 

And finally some good news, the HSE has confirmed that over half the adult population in Ireland is now fully vaccinated against Covid-19
