Flying home for Christmas

Good morning colleagues,

 

Taoiseach Mícheál Martin reported having a 'warm and engaging' phone call with US President-elect, Joe Biden yesterday evening, where Mr Biden committed his continued support for the Good Friday Agreement. This receives coverage on many of today's front pages.

 

On his campaign website, the President-elect also speaks about the 'war on organising' and committed to strengthening public and private sector unions, 'helping all workers bargain successfully for what they deserve,' which is very welcome news indeed.

 

Our image this morning is of 'the mother of feminism’, Mary Wollstonecraft. Her memorial statue was unveiled yesterday in north London after a decade of fundraising, and has quickly come under harsh criticism.
