French trade unions began a nationwide strike today, asking for higher salaries amid decades-high inflation. Read more on that here

 

Cabinet are set to meet this this morning, with Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien seeking approval to introduce a temporary eviction ban in order to provide additional protection for renters.

 

Government are approving plans to place four voluntary hospices under the financial control of the State and on to a more certain financial footing.

 

Almost 66,000 exceptional once-off payments totalling almost €40m have been paid to people struggling to make ends meet since the start of this year, according to new figures from the Department of Social Welfare.

 

Online “flashing” is to be included as a specific offence under a proposed change to online safety legislation due to be considered by the Cabinet today.

 

And finally, the State Examinations Commission will finally issue the 2022 Junior Cert results on Wednesday 23 November. The delay is being blamed, in part, on a shortage of examiners and the prioritisation given to marking the Leaving Certificate.
