Committee Stage consideration of the Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy Bill ended this morning in the Seanad.
It follows two days examination of amendments by senators. The Bill will move to report stage tomorrow.
Following an extra sitting day on Monday and 12 hours of debate yesterday, committee stage consideration of the abortion bill ended in the Seanad just after 2am.
Sixty-three amendments were tabled by senators, all of which were rejected by the Minister for Health.
However, Simon Harris has agreed to meet senators today on issues they have raised at committee stage about the legislation.
Many of the committee stage amendments in the Seanad from both sides of the abortion debate echoed those tabled at committee stage in the Dáil a month ago.
There was frustration when a number of senators formally moved their amendments and spoke on them for lengthy periods - only to withdraw them in order to speak on them again at report stage.
Report and final stages of the Termination of Pregnancy Bill in the Seanad is scheduled for tomorrow.
