Fine Gael look to be set for an Irish election wipeout after an opinion poll revealed a 12-point gap behind opposition contenders Fianna Fáil. A Behaviour and Attitudes poll for The Sunday Times put Fianna Fáil on 32 percent and Fine Gael on 20 percent.

A senior Fine Gael campaign source also blamed the planned strikes by secondary teachers and childcare workers in the days leading up to the election on 8th February for hindering the party’s changes of securing a third term.
