Unfinished business

Over the weekend it was revealed that Government is set to table new proposals to resolve the long-running dispute over access to pensions for hundreds of community employment scheme supervisors. Fórsa's Tony Martin said he hopes the sustained campaign for justice will soon be brought to a successful conclusion.

 

On the four day week, our own Joe O'Connor spoke to Newstalk's Pat Kenny last Friday on the benefits of reduced working time, as speculation on when we'll return to offices continues.

 

Today, Higher Education Minister Simon Harris is set to unveil a pledge to train 10,000 new apprentices each year. Included in the group for the first time ever will be HSE healthcare apprentices.

 

ETUC's Esther Lynch shared this article on Twitter, disputing the conservative political trope that "insecure jobs and low wages lead to more jobs and a healthy economy." None of us are safe until we are all safe, according to sociologist Dr John Falzon. 

 

Elsewhere, the ESB has appealed to a network technicians to call off industrial action scheduled to commence today with a work-to-rule. Meanwhile, workers of Camphill Duffcarrig that engaged in two 12-hour demonstrations of industrial action last week claim they've seen 'no progress whatsoever'.
