The Irish Independent claims that a new decentralisation scheme for civil servants, to base themselves in offices in regional towns rather than Dublin, is being considered as part of Budget 2020.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) spent almost €94 million on agency staff in the first seven months of the year, despite repeated promises to reduce dependency on temporary workers.

The Independent also reports officers from the Defence Forces have voted to accept a €10 million package from the Government to address retention issues.

The UK Labour party will aim to reduce the full-time working week to 32 hours within the next decade, with no loss of pay, according to John McDonnell, who was speaking at its conference in Brighton. The news comes ahead of the launch of the campaign for a four-day week group here in Ireland on Thursday.

The European Court of Justice will rule today on whether Google must apply worldwide a ruling that it comply with requests to remove online links, or whether the "de-referencing" should be limited to just EU domains. The judgement in the landmark case could have implications on the 'right to be forgotten' on the web, and the jurisdiction of EU rules on the subject.

Finally, today's zen comes courtesy of the Boss, who celebrated his 70th birthday yesterday.

Have a good day folks.
