Siptu has called for an end to pay cuts for public service staff who stay on beyond age 65.

 

The HSE is set to record a deficit of more than €80 million and potentially close to €100 million in the first three months of the year alone. While Eilish O'Regan in the Independent reports some hospital consultants are to be offered top-up fees to treat their own patients under the Government's €50m plan to clear waiting lists, it has been confirmed.

 

The Independent reports that overpayments made to Revenue staff on sick leave have soared from less than €300,000 to €1.69m in just four years.
