Calls for living wage for Postgrads

All FM104 News

The Union of Students in Ireland want a living wage for Postgrad students.

They've launched a charter looking to get better supports for people who choose to do more study at third level.

That includes proper pay for those who teach or work in academic institutions.

Sara Dowling is the Vice President of the USI:

"Postgraduate students deserve the right to a living wage; essentially if postgrads are teaching or lecturing they are providing work on behalf of their institution that should beget a living wage.

"That's what they deserve for the work they're putting in.

"In Ireland we promote the benefit of postgraduates within the economic and professional reputation that we hold but yet there are so many students neglected."
