To: All members based in Cork
This Saturday April 7th, Fórsa will be taking part in a major national housing demonstration, organised by the National Homeless and Housing Coalition, and supported by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.
Fórsa is a proud member of this coalition, and Saturday's demonstration is the most significant collective action to date since the onset of the housing crisis.
The Fórsa delegation will meet at our Nerney’s Court office at 12.30pm, before assembling at the Garden of Remembrance at 1pm. Fórsa Deputy General Secretary Kevin Callinan will be among the speakers at the demonstration.
Transport from Cork
The Cork branch has arranged transport for all Fórsa members in Cork to travel 7th April. The bus will leave Cork at 8:00am sharp from South Mall, outside the Imperial Hotel, arriving in Temple Street, Dublin for 12.15pm to liaise with Fórsa representatives and to collect Fórsa placards, banners and flags. The bus will leave Dublin at 4.30pm sharp from Parnell Square for the return journey. Please contact
Donal Guerin urgently to reserve a place.
We are asking you to join us on Saturday as we press for action alongside trade union colleagues, NGOs and homeless charities, students, renters, community action groups, political parties and many more.
We urgently need your support on Saturday, please join us.
This issue affects many of our members and their families very deeply. Rising rents and house prices continue to place great pressure on incomes, and the country's worsening homelessness crisis remains a source of deep shame for our society.
Saturday is also the first major opportunity for our new union to have very prominent, visible presence at a major public event such as this, and Fórsa’s colours will be well represented with banners, flags and placards on the day.
We hope you can be there – Please contact me directly by email to confirm you can make it.
With thanks
