Great Lad

Other news this morning includes reports that Gardaí might ignore their new roster, due in the coming weeks,

In the Irish Times Emmet Malone reports that the ability of organisations in the voluntary sector to provide services for the State is being eroded by staff turnover caused by pay differences with the public sector.

The employer body on the sector, The Wheel, says that the pay differential can be as much as 20%. As you'll know, this has been a long-running issue of dispute between health unions and the main funding body, the State. Ballots by Fórsa, the INMO and Siptu in a number of community and voluntary employments are set to conclude this week.

Elsewhere, Fórsa and Aer Lingus have exchanged correspondence on what the airline claims is 'unofficial' industrial action by pilots. Fórsa has refuted the allegation.

Meanwhile, industrial action by Fórsa members in local authorities is set to escalate on Friday, as the Dublin Gazette reports that there's 'unprecedented crossparty support for Fórsa's industrial action.'

As extensive local media coverage of the dispute continues, Tipp Mid West radio reports that Tipperary County Council is making arrangements for the management of services, including emergency services, due to the planned escalation on Friday. Tune in to Ocean FM just after 9:05 this morning for more on that industrial action.

Zen

For your Zen this morning a little snippet of internet comedy "sensation" Peter McGann. I caught his stage show in Vicar Street at the weekend and can confirm that Peter is, indeed, a Great Lad. His pre-show music has been stuck in my head ever since, but it is a classic (click on Joe above).

Have a great week.
