Our friend and colleague Catherine Keogh was quoted in the Irish Examiner over the weekend on the issue of childcare arrangements for essential health and welfare staff. The Irish TImes reports that Chinese suppliers of personal protection equipment (PPE) are working with the HSE to ensure the unsatisfactory consignment sent to Ireland last week will be replaced, that's according to the Chinese embassy in Dublin.

The Irish Times on Saturday had this long read by Jennifer O'Connell - Restarting Ireland: When and how will we ‘get back to normal’? - worth a read. Danny McCoy of IBEC expands on his thoughts on social dialogue, David McWilliams predicts more social democracy: “The idea that you will reward hedge fund managers in multiples of how you reward nurses just won’t wash. Taxes will rise. Public services will be much better off as a result.”

The political hacks appear to have zeroed in on the Labour Party as the possible missing piece of a new Government coalition puzzle. For the time being at least, the party's new leader isn't having it.

On Saturday Congress highlighted reports in the Irish Times that the chief executive of CRH' €9.3 million package is under scrutiny from a leading shareholders advisory group.

Elsewhere, it was reported over the weekend that Finance minister Paschal Donohoe has admitted there’s a “gap” in the temporary wage subsidy scheme that sees some workers worse off if they’re kept on by their employers, a problem that has become particularly acute for our cabin crew members in Ryanair and its agencies.

Yesterday's Sindo saw Maeve Sheehan sing the praises of hospital cleaning staff - "the first line of defence against the virus, the ground troops who move in to destroy it, clearing a safe path for the medical teams and patients following behind." On Twitter yesterday the HSE's Rosarii Mannion praised the "everyday brilliance" of everyone who works in our health services, listing off some of the wide variety of grades and people working to resolve the current health crisis to show the diverse range of responsibilities involved. Twitter being twitter, Rosarii was gently upbraided for the grades she didn't mention in the first tweet. Seriously.

Your Zen this morning pays tribute to Bill Withers who left us last week. This is one of my favourite tunes of all time, always lifts the mood. And if I may pretend to be a radio DJ for a second, I'd like to dedicate this to our colleagues in the Education division who worked extremely hard over the weekend responding to the high volume of emails from SNA members. This one's for you guys, brilliant work.

Have a good week. Stay safe, stay well.
