Public servants are in line for €325 new year salary boost
Most of the country's 300,000-strong public service workforce is set for a €325 new year pay boost.
From this month, civil and public servants will get their latest pay and pension levy increases under the current public sector wage agreement that runs to 2020.
A reduction in an unpopular pension levy that was imposed during the economic crisis will improve most civil and public servants' take-home pay by €325 a year.
Public servants earning less than €30,000 a year who do not benefit from the reduction in the pension levy received a 1pc pay rise from January 1.
Those who joined the public service after 2013 and are in a less beneficial pension scheme will be given an additional boost and pay just two- thirds of the pension contribution rate that applies to their colleagues and which replaces the pension levy.
