A sharp rise in the level of “uncommenced” planning permissions for apartments, particularly in Dublin, has been linked to speculative activity and land hoarding in the State’s housing market, according to a new DPER report.

 

Elsewhere, The Times reports that big tech groups are ditching offices that are part of their European headquarters as a cooling economy brings the sector’s years of rapid expansion to a halt.

 

There was a mixed reaction to the Government climate action plan published yesterday, with environmental NGOs, Opposition politicians and academics all agreeing that the test for the plan would be in how quickly and effectively it is implemented. Read more on that here.

 

The CMO has warned that Ireland is "in the eye of a respiratory virus storm as we enter the Christmas period” and has urged people to wear masks on public transport and in crowded settings.

Santa Paws visited Dogs Trust earlier this week and all the dogs got to choose their very own toy for Christmas. There was too much joy to fit in one video, but you can see some of the residents celebrating. Here's hoping these dogs have their very own home to celebrate in next Christmas.
