The Irish Times reports strike threat at Eir’s call centres has receded as 650 staff accepted redundancy terms following a Communications Workers Union (CWU) ballot.

 

A national 24-hour crackdown on speeding motorists began at 7am this morning, with Gardaí saying their ‘slow down’ campaign is aimed at raising awareness of speed.

 

A 'worrying trend' of people becoming homeless younger is developing according to housing and homeless agency Novas, who published their annual report this morning. The agency, which works with vulnerable individuals and families in Limerick and the mid-west said it helped over 4,500 people last year.

 

RTÉ reports on a Mental Health Commission report, which raises concerns over the use of restraint on psychiatric patients.
